Dare Mighty Things - Set

Dare Mighty Things

Remind yourself to Dare Mighty Things every day with this lightweight acrylic jewelry set depicting the Mars Perseverance Rover's landing parachute and its secret binary encoded message.

We have Landed!

On February 18, 2021, NASA and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) used the world's coolest supersonic parachute to land the Perseverance rover on the surface of Mars.
As if that wasn't achievement enough, those wonderful tricksters at JPL put an encoded secret message in the pattern of the parachute.

The parachute had a red and white pattern - which was a message in binary code that read: Dare Mighty Things on the inner rings. (Which is JPL's motto). And the outer ring says JPL: 34°11’58” N 118°10’31” W. Which is the geolocation coordinates for the JPL Lab.

Great gift for lovers of space exploration, science fiction, mars, NASA, JPL, astronomy, science, computer science, and engineering.
Fun as a teacher's gift.
Makes a great stocking stuffer.

Details:

  • Discs are approximately 1" around, clear acrylic with either white or red acrylic paint filling in the binary message code.
  • Necklaces include a 18" Sterling Silver chain.
  • Earring wires are sterling silver.
*Any definition of Mighty applies here. We understand that sometimes just getting the potato chip bag open is a mighty feat worthy of awards and accolades. We totally have days like that too.

New Favorite Necklace!!

I LOVE my “Dare Mighty Things” necklace! I literally have not taken it off since I got it at an art fair a few months ago and I am a BIG time jewelry person, always switching it up. But, the story behind this necklace is SO inspiring, I swear it is giving me strength, joy, and motivation. I really never even want to take it off. Every time I rub the little gold and white disk in between my fingers I smile and think, if we can go to other planets, anything is possible! I am also a Science Communicator making video content for scientists on expeditions around the world, which is something I never would have imagined a few years ago. I believe this necklace is also a constant reminder for me, that dreams can true❤️😊
